Venue: Redcoats Farmhouse and Restaurant near Hitchin, Hertfordshire
Lizzie & Richard were married on a stunning day in August. Lizzie had a fabulous dress that reminded me of an outfit Ginger Rogers might wear in the traditional old musical movies from the 40’s or 50’s. I’m so glad they chose me to capture their wedding day. So much care and attention went into all the details and so it was truly lovely to photograph. Redcoats is a great location for those that want some special imagery of their wedding day. It has fantastic traditional rooms with original beams and lovely gardens. Redcoats is also surrounded by beautiful English countryside and it has an amazing barn next door which I couldn’t resist using in some of the wedding photography.

Paul & Miranda were married in a beautiful church in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire. Their wedding reception was held in a magnificent marquee in Berkhamsted, herts also. They were such a sweet couple who were childhood sweethearts and their romance had carried on into their adult years. I shot a lot of gorgeous wedding photography on their special day. Here are a few of my favourite images.

I shot Mark & Sonja weddings photographs in London in July. They were married in a catholic church in Putney and they held their wedding reception at Putney Rowing club on the River Thames. Sonja had a gorgeous wedding dress but I have to say her shoes were just amazing -silver Gucci sequinned shoes with heels that went on forever. I’m a shoe girl myself and I wasn’t surprised to learn she spent more on her wedding shoes that her dress.

Location of Wedding: St Mary’s Parish Church, Amersham, Buckinghamshire. The wedding reception was held in a marquee on the grounds of a large farm in Chesham, Buckinghamshire.
Stuart and Louise were married on an incredible sunny day in July. The sky was so blue with lots white fluffy clouds. It made a fantastic backdrop for the wedding photographs.
Although bright sunny days are what people ideally want for their wedding day if you ask a photographer they will always prefer an overcast day as bright days are incredibly challenging exposure wise. It can be extremely difficult to achieve detail in the sky while exposing correctly for your main subject matter. A professional wedding photographer will always know how to achieve the best results whatever the conditions they find themselves shooting in even if it means taking several different exposures of the same scene. If its not possible to get all the details in the original photograph then I edit my wedding photography in my art-working process to achieve the exact image I am looking for with all the key details that ‘make’ the final image. Each wedding photograph I take goes through a strict quality control process to ensure the photographs are exactly how I want them to be and have my particular artistic style.

On a sunny day in March I travelled to Chenies in Buckinghamshire to photograph the wedding of Ron and Sue. They had quite an interesting story because although they had been together a number of years, this was the their second time together. After their first relationship ended they had met each other a number of years later and got together again. It was such a lovely story.
I was also surprised to see the same registrar that had conducted Lucie and Marco’s wedding. Although wedding photographers often meet the same registrars and priests etc at their regular shooting venues it is quite unusual to see them covering different geographical areas.

I love the symmetry in this image and the texture of the tree bark

I shot a sequence of these tree images and they work so well together

Lucie and Marco held their civil wedding ceremony at Spring Cottage, Cliveden House, Berkshire. Cliveden House is a spectacular location which is owned by the National Trust and Spring Cottage (part of the Cliveden estate) is situated on the River Thames.
Lucie and Marco’s wedding celebration is the smallest and most intimate wedding that I have ever photographed. There were four people in total including the Bride and Groom. They were both Italian and so two close friends had flown over from Italy to participate in their celebration. I found myself racing against sunset as this was a winter wedding and sunset is about 4pm. The light just before sunset is a favourite of mine as it is so warm and soft. I shot some gorgeus wedding photography using this light.

I was Phil & Nicola’s wedding photographer at St Michaels Manor, St Albans, Hertfordshire and also at The Pre in St Albans. This was another winter wedding but luckily the weather behaved. I’m beginning to think I might be lucky as I can’t remember the last time I shot a wedding when it rained (touch wood!).
Phil and Nicola were concerend about getting decent photographs at The Pre as they didn’t think it was the most attractive location. For me this is part of the challenge of being a wedding photographer. I want to produce unique images that my couple are chuffed with and so I will find some fantastic locations even if the Bride and Groom don’t think there are any. I have heard of wedding photographers informing clients that it’s not worth buying an album as the location isn’t attractive enough to justify it. Needless to say i’m pretty disgusted with this attitude as I believe there are truly great images to be created anywhere. I loved Phil & Nicola’s wedding location and was truly excited about shooting at The Pre, which was totally the opposite reaction to what they where expecting, but as their wedding photographer I was looking at it in a different light.
The Pre was surrounded by some stunning Hertfordshire Countryside with St Albans Abbey in the distance. I love my romantic novels and I was visualising images along the lines of Wuthering Heights. My only concern was whether Phil & Nicola were adventurous and would they bring wellies? The answer was yes to both questions.
