The Wedding of Nikki & Keith, Watford, Hertfordshire.

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

I shot Nikki & Keiths’ wedding photography in sunny October (yes we did have some sun!). Their wedding ceremony was held in the Elim Chruch in Watford, Herts, and the wedding reception took place at St Clement Danes, Buckinghamshire. The church proved a real challenge as it was very dark and all the windows were covered! The obvious option was to use flash photography. There is a place for flash but I try to avoid it if at all possible because it can be quite intrusive and I find it really kills almosphere unless utilised properly. Unfortunately many photographers don’t really know how to work with flash and so end up blasting everything. Photographs that have detail in the foreground blasted out display a typical symptom or poor flash use.

Autumn Wedding

Autumn Wedding

I originally shot the above wedding image in colour but when I started my post processing I realised that it had to be black and white. I felt it was a shame to loose the beautiful autumnal colours though and so decided to keep the warm colours in the leaves. For me the whole image works well and really portrays the feel of the wedding day.

The Wedding of Vingenza & Martin, Tring, Hertfordshire.

Monday, November 10th, 2008

The wedding of Vinnie and Martin took place in a Catholic Church in Uxbridge and the wedding reception was held at Pendley Manor, Tring, Hertfordshire. Pendley Manor is a gorgeous venue and I love the Peacocks that wander the grounds. Although this wedding was held in August, unfortunately the weather didn’t behave, and so I conducted most of the wedding photography in the rain, but we still had fun.

Vinnie opted to have her bridal preparations photographed and I’m so glad she did as I got some great shots of her make-up being applied.

The Wedding of Miranda & Paul, Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire.

Monday, November 10th, 2008

On a beautiful sunny day in August I shot the wedding photography for Miranda and Paul in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire. The ceremony was held at All Saints Church, Berkhamsted and the reception was held in a gorgeous marquee.

I love shooting wedding photography in Churches. They hold so much atmosphere and history and I really think this comes across in the photographs. The lighting may be dim but it always looks amazing especially when it streams through the church windows.

Miranda and Paul had been together since school and on this special day all their photo albums were displayed so that guests could giggle at the images and also look back through their history so far. I had a lot of fun flicking through the photo albums and realised just how important a visual record of their wedding day would be.

I like both images above but in particular the one where Miranda whispers to Paul. In post processing I have given this wedding photograph a slight orange tint, increased contrast and firmed up blacks to give the photograph some punch. I really feel the orange adds to the warm atmosphere and I love how the light hits the edge of Mirandas hair, giving a glowing outline and defining shape.
