Portrait Photography of Julie & Family

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

I shot these family portait photographs earlier this year in Watford, Hertfordshire. Julie wanted quite formal portraiture, rather than lifestyle portraits, as she planned to order prints for her family in Ireland and they would expect a more traditional style of photograph. I brought my portable studio to Julie’s home as it is easier to work with Children in a location they are comfortable with.

Portraits of Jamie

Friday, November 14th, 2008

Jaimie wanted me to shoot his model portfolio. He had been to a few agencies in London for advice and they all told him to get a ‘killer’ portfolio. Quite a few had also tried to sell him their own photographer and so he explained to me he had become slightly suspicious of their treatment and decided to get his own photographer to shoot his portfolio. We had quite a long chat about how the portrait session would progress, outfit changes, pose ideas etc. He also wanted help in selecting the photographs that would best sell him and so give him a strong portfolio.  Here are a few of the final selection.

Portraits in the Isle of Man

Friday, November 14th, 2008

A few months ago I was comissioned to travel to the Isle of Man to take portrait photographs of Francesca, Sebastion and Christian. This was quite an unusual request for me as usually I only shoot portrait photography in Hertfordshire, London and the surrounding areas. But Veronica, (mum) had found my lifestyle photography on the internet and had fallen in love with my style. I’m really glad I did this shoot because I feel my images in the Glen have a fairy like quality and I love the textures of the rocks in Sebastions portrait.

Portrait Photography of Elizabeth & Helena

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

Two gorgeous little girls playing outside and enjoying the summer weather.

Although I shoot all types of portraiture my favourite kind is lifestyle or environmental portrait photography. Capturing people in their own natural environment, I think, adds to the narative of the photograph and also cuts out much of the awkwardness that can result with a formally posed image in a studio. Lifestyle photography is invariably very relaxed and produces lovely natural photographs. I feel these photographs have really captured the ambince of a bright summers day.

I have picked this photograph to display because I love Helena’s facial exxpression. It looks like she’s about to floor the accelerator to get me.

There is such beautiful light in the summer, although full sunshine can be a photographers nightmare. It generally gives lots of harsh shadows, panda eyes and trouble with exposures. If utilised correctly the harsh sunlight can proviide fantastic rim lighting and hair highlights.

Portrait Photography of Shantelle in Watford

Sunday, November 9th, 2008

Lifestyle portrait photography to celebrate Shantelle’s 3rd birthday. Shantelle’s mother Tanya was keen to get some beautiful photographs of her daughter. She didn’t want anything too posed but wanted more natural photography.
